Het met Betty when they were both working at Mode and seemily hit it off from the start. They bantered about the starving models and he was appreciative of the fact that she actually ate. Then it all went downhill when Betty asked for more subdried tomatoes on her sandwhich and the two got into a heated argument. He called her a 'Mode girl' and stormed off. Later, after she complained to her boss about him, Gio was fired because of his attitude towards her. Betty is devestated by this fact and tries to make it up to him. Over a mini road trip to New Jersey, the two learn more about each other and are slightly more civil, until they get into yet another fighting mach that leads to the two of them quacking and woofing in the middle of a fancy banquet hall. Over the course of the rest of the season, Gio starts to fall hard for Betty, even though she's in a relationship with Henry. He continues to help her out with various favors and dosen't realize his progressing feelings until he goes out on a date with Betty's sister and Hilda calls him on it at the end of the night.
